Summer Glass Camp

Summer Glass Camp is a Southwest Michigan summertime tradition at West Michigan Glass Art Center.  Located in downtown Kalamazoo, Summer Glass Camp is the highlight of many camper's summer!  Campers will learn valuable skills, form strong friendships and discover their amazing creative abilities.  Campers will learn glassblowing, bead making, kiln fusing, lampworking, sand casting and other glass arts.  Camp ends with an exciting gallery exhibit open house for family and friends of the campers.  Campers will be invited to show their work at a fall exhibit at the Portage District Library. Glass Explorers
Session I - June 20 21, 22
Session 4-  July 16, 17, 18
Tuition: $250  Maximum: 12 students
   Three-day camp for beginning glass artists ages 10 to 18.  This camp will explore beginning techniques in glass art.  Campers will make a sculpted glass paperweight in the Hot Shop and create art using kiln fusing,  lampworking, bead making, sand casting and sandblasting.
 
Teen Glassblowing
Session 2 -  June 26, 27, 28  FULL!
Session 5 -  July 19, 20, 21
Tuition: $250 Maximum: 12 students
   Three-day intensive teen glass camp for glass artists ages 12 to 18 (no experience necessary).   This camp will focus on glassblowing, lampworking, bead making, sand blasting and kiln fusing.  Campers create a hollow blown glass vessel in the Hot Shop, flamework items with a torch, beads on a mandrel, sandblasting and finish a three-dimensional kiln fused project.
 
Teen Inferno
Session 3 -  July 9, 10, 11, 12
Tuition: $340  Maximum: 12 students
   Four-day camp for glass artists ages 12 to 18.  This camp will focus on advanced techniques used to create glass art.  Campers will make blown glass projects in the Hot Shop and create glass art using kiln fusing, flameworking (lampworking), bead making, kiln casting, grinding, polishing and finishing.
